Three Brothers

The other session I had last Sunday was a family with three little boys.  They are so cute and were a great family to work with.  When I started this photography business I thought my favorite part of this “job” would be creating interesting photographs.  However, my favorite part is getting to meet all of you and working with your families.  Coming back to the computer to see what we caputured during the session is just a bonus.  I think these “bonuses” turned out great.  Don’t the boys look like they are glowing?

And here’s a funny one of Tanner.  I’m not sure what he’s trying to tell me, but it must be important.  :-)

Fun Times at the Park

One of the families I had a session with this weekend wanted to have their photos taken at the Shunga Park.  I hadn’t been there, so on Saturday we took Tanner out there for some test shoots.  He was having too much fun to realize we were putting him to “work” as our model.

And here’s one of him sitting in the swing wondering why we weren’t pushing him.

After our test shots on Saturday, I was ready for the family on Sunday.  They were an absolute blast.

Who is this big boy?

And what did he do to my baby?  Tanner got his first haircut yesterday and he looks like a completely different kid.

Friday evening I had a session with a little guy who I first photographed when he was just a few days old.  He is getting to be a big boy too.

And here he is with his mom and dad.

Test Shoot

We finally tested the new lights and new camera together for the first time tonight.  Tanner wasn’t too interested in sitting still for the test shots (notice that we had to use a “baby wrangler” to get the shot…Daddy’s hand).

New Addition

Well, we have a new addition.  After months and months of anticipation, we finally got a new camera.  My husband has been talking non-stop (and I do mean non-stop) about the Canon 5D for months now, ever since he tested one at a camera shop.  He said that if I ever held one I’d get the 5D bug too.  I finally broke down a couple weeks ago and tested the 5D…and was bitten.  It is an amazing camera and it can take some equally amazing photos.  The photos taken with the 5D can produce larger prints, so we will be offering larger sizes, which some of you have asked about.

My two sessions today were the first where I used the 5D.  We got off to a rocky start, with the camera giving me some unusual errors, but we got back on track after two calls to tech support (i.e., my husband).  I felt SO bad that I kept the first family (with three little ones) waiting while we got things sorted out.  After we got the technical glitches out of the way, we had a great time and the two older kids ended up wading in the stream . . . so cute!  Here are some of my favorites from their session.

The other session today was equally as fun and, fortunately, free of technical problems.  What adorable sisters!

And here’s my favorite shot of the day!

And, as promised here’s a photo of my son.  All kids eat graham crackers outdoors without their clothes, right?  :-)

Busy Weekend

We had a very busy weekend with two sessions on Saturday.  The first session was a family that wanted portraits of their kids with grandma.  It was a little rainy, but I think the kids had a good time.  The other session was of a newborn.  It was the first time we used out new portable light kit.  I think the pics turned out great, but with a cutie like this, how could they not?

Our Sunday session was rained out, but that gave us time to get caught up on some miscellaneous business.  We have some exciting things in the works, including new products, which we are anxious to unveil.

I also finished a storyboard for a family who had their session last weekend.  They wanted a storyboard of their son playing in the water at the fountain.

I just love these pictures!  This is a good example of when you see me taking pics of your kids when they are “being kids” don’t stop them and ask that they look at the camera and say ”CHEESE.”  Had this mom done that, we wouldn’t have these fun candid shots of her son being himself.

I know, I know.  I don’t have a photo of my son this time.  Next time, I promise.  :-)
