The date: Last night.
The location: Centerpiece Photography Headquarters (currently undergoing renovations).
The subject: Tanner Kasprzyk, 2 year old male showing early signs of PKS (Photographer’s Kid Syndrome), a common disorder among children of professional photographers. The primary symptom of PKS is sporadic refusal to cooperate during photo sessions.
The mission: Photograph subject enjoying a heart shaped, sugar loaded lollipop so that said photos can be distributed to family and friends in the form of a Valentine’s Day card.
6:28 p.m. Subject arrives at CPHQ. Subject’s mother (a/k/a photographer) attempts to feed subject his dinner (chicken nugget Happy Meal), but subject refuses and instead gathers building materials and tools and begins his “work”.
6:45 p.m. Photographer finishes her meal and attempts begin photographing subject. Subject refuses to cooperate and photo shoot is put on hold.
7:03 p.m. Photographer attempts to reinitiate photo shoot. Subject refuses to eat lollipop and shows visible signs of distress.
7:04 p.m. Photo shoot is put on hold.
7:07 p.m. Subject is observed standing in back of studio near a radio smiling and enjoying heart shaped lollipop.
7:08 p.m. Subject is moved to the photographing area of the studio and refuses to eat lollipop (even when accompanied by his favorite monster truck).
7:11 p.m. Subject is again observed standing in the back of the studio, standing near a radio, smiling and enjoying said lollipop.
7:12 p.m. Subject and said radio are moved to the photographing area of the studio. Subject shows signs of angst.
7:14 p.m. Subject exits the photographing area of the studio traveling by foot in a northerly direction.
7:15 p.m. Subject returns to photographing area of the studio carrying his happy meal. Subject uses radio as a “table” for said meal.
7:16 p.m. Subject observed enjoying chicken nugget from said meal.
7:18 p.m. Subject observed enjoying french fry from said meal.
7:20 p.m. Subject refuses photographer’s requests to hold lollipop.
7:21 p.m. Photographer strategies method for securing desired photograph of subject with heart shaped lollipop and decides to continue session using the “reverse psychology” approach.
7:22 p.m. Photographer instructs subject to NOT touch HER lollipop.
7:23 p.m. Subject takes photographer’s lollipop and repeatedly tells photographer “NO” when she asks him to return said lollipop.
7:24 p.m. Subject observed showing visible signs of excitement over stealing and enjoying photographer’s lollipop.
7:25 p.m. Mission completed: Subject photographed enjoying said lollipop.
7:27 p.m. Subject observed demonstrating bizarre hand movements.
7:35 p.m. Photo session brought to an abrupt conclusion when subject drops said lollipop.
Conclusion: A little reverse psychology never hurt a 2 year old.
