Complimentary Newborn Sessions

We’ve had so many newborn sessions at the studio lately.  We love seeing all the teeny tiny little newborns…its always such a treat!  Yesterday, we had a little guy in the studio who was just two weeks old (and arrived 4 weeks early).  He was so awake and alert during the session.

Speaking of babies…I do have a couple of announcements.  First, we love newborns so much that we are offering free newborn sessions through September 30, 2008.  If you or someone you know is expecting and will be having a baby before September 30, be sure to let us know that you are interested in a free newborn session.  The session fee of $100 will be waived for these newborn sessions, but there is a $100 deposit that’ll be due at booking, all of which will be applied to prints from the session.  The newborn session must occur before your baby is 6 weeks old (and we strongly urge you to have the portraits taken before their 2 week birthday…when they will still “curl” like they did in the womb).  The second baby announcement is that Janet (the studio manager) is expecting her first baby in October.  I cannot wait until his/her arrival so I can take tons and tons of photos (and give Tanner a little bit of a break as my model).

Kansas City, Here We Come!

Centerpiece Photography will be hosting mini-sessions in Kansas City.  On Friday, August 1, I’ll be at Loose Park, a GORGEOUS park that’s near the plaza, and then on Sunday, August 10, I’ll be doing sessions at Strawberry Hill in Kansas City, which sounds like a farm, but its actually a neat downtown / urban type area.  Here’s some samples from each of the locations from a recent road trip Janet and I took with Tanner.

First up is the GORGEOUS Loose Park.  The park has a beautiful pond, that’s home to dozens of ducks, and there’s several bridges that cross the pond at various points.  Here’s a shot of Tanner on one of the bridges feeding the ducks some “corn” (popcorn).

And, of course, he loved running back and forth on the bridges.

And he would occasionally pose nicely for Mommy stop to catch his breath.

One of the many, many benefits of Loose Park is that even if its sprinkling a little for the sessions (like it did for some of the Loose Park sessions last year), there’s a really neat covered area at the park that we could go to and get some great shots.

I’m super excited for the Loose Park sessions, but (if its possible) I think I’m even more excited about the Strawberry Hill sessions.  I was recently in Michigan and had the opportunity to photograph children in a back alley in a downtown area (a type of session I hadn’t really thought of doing before) and I was so excited with how the Michigan photos turned out.  Its a really neat urban look.  So, I knew I wanted to do some Kansas City sessions like that (Topeka, don’t worry, we’ll be doing some here too).  One of goals for our road trip to Kansas City was to find a location for the urban sessions.  We scoped out a few spots but nothing really “spoke” to me.  Then, that pesky law background kicked in and I remembered that there’s a neat area with old buildings near the federal court house in Kansas City.  Well, we found the perfect alley for the location (very nice neighborhood, low traffic, great parking, and really neat buildings/fences/stairways, etc).  Here’s some shots from that alley.

Call or e-mail today for a session as there is limited availability.  For those of you who have friends and family in the KC area, please pass the word letting them know about these fun sessions (you’ll earn a free 8 by 10 for each referral).  The session fee for new customers is $50 (the session fee is waived for repeat mini-session customers) and there’s a special portrait collection available for these sessions.  Have I mentioned how excited I am for these sessions?

New Offerings

Over the past two years I’ve received a lot of requests for portrait packages.  I resisted the idea of offering packages because every family’s portrait needs are different, and I don’t want to “force” a family into a package that has a bunch of different sized photos that just don’t meet their needs.  But, I’ve come up with a way to offer flexible portrait packages (we call them “Collections”) where you can choose the different sizes of prints that you’d like to fill the collection.  Even better, each of the prints that fill the collection can be a different image (we don’t limit the collection to just 2 or 5 or 8 poses).  I’m pleased to be able to offer these collections at a steep discount over our regular pricing (up to 50% off!).  For more information on our new portrait collections, please e-mail me for an information packet that includes a price list.  Collections start at $300 for the Baby Plan / Mini-Session Collection, which includes 12 prints sizes 8 by 12 or smaller and one print size 16 by 20 or smaller.

Another thing I keep hearing over and over from customers is that they love all their photos so much that its to difficult to decide which ones to order and they wish they could purchase ALL the images.  Well, I’ve come up with a solution that too.  The first way is by including ALL of the images from the gallery in albums.  The “Session Album” includes ALL of the edited images from your gallery (usually 30 to 50 images) presented as 5 by 7s in a black leather album.  We are also offering the “Gift Album” which includes ALL of the edited images from the gallery, except that the images are printed as 4 by 6s.  The Session Album and the Gift Album each hold 24 prints and any additional prints from your gallery which do not fit in the album will be delivered boxed.  The Session Album is $475 and the Gift Album is $400.  These albums represent a savings of up to 70% over the price of the prints if purchased individually.  What a deal!

I also get lots and lots of requests to purchase the digital files of the images from the session.  Until now, I didn’t sell digital files, but I’m now offering ALL of the full resolution digital files of edited images from a session.  When you purchase the digital files, you will receive a release from me that will allow you to print unlimited copies of the images, at any size.  This is great not only to have prints to display in your home and office, but for scrapbooking, card making, and gifts.  You are welcome to post these photos online and share electronically with family and friends.  The DVD containing the images may be copied and stored in a safe deposit box for safekeeping.  The Digital Files Collection is $1,250 (or $750 when added to a print order over $1,000).

In addition to these new offerings, we’ve also slightly increased the price of our small prints and storyboards, the regular session fee is now $100 and the mini-session session fee is now $50 (the session fee is still waived for repeat customers of the same type of session).  Also, for sessions booked after today, the 25% discount that was applicable to baby plan and mini-session a la carte pricing is no longer available and instead the Baby Plan / Mini-Session Collection is available (with an even better savings of up to 50%). You are still welcome to purchase a la carte on the baby plan and mini-session galleries, those prints are the regular prices (there’s no a la carte print discount).  Please note that if you are currently on the baby plan or already have a session scheduled with us, you will receive the pricing that was effective at the time you booked your session or you are welcome to purchase under the new pricing structure . . . whatever works out best for your family.  We appreciate your understanding in making these changes, as these are the first price increases we’ve had in nearly 2 years of business.  Please e-mail me to receive an information packet that includes all the information on our new offerings and changes.
